How Good is a Cheap BMX for Pump Tracks?

We have been busy preaching to the world about pump tracks. We've been telling everyone that will listen, and a lot of people who won't, how great they are. One of the questions we get asked most often is "How much do I need to spend to get a good pump track bike?"

How much should I spend?

Let's be honest, that is a great question, and for ages, our stock answer was "around £500." Which then caused the response of "You said riding pump tracks was cheap." To which, we kind of stumped ourselves?

So how cheap could we go? Well, a mighty internet retailer lowered the price of the Blank Media and Blank Media XL to just over £250, this lowering of price meant that we have also had to follow suit. At just over half of what we previously said, we decided to give a Blank Media XL a shot at being the bike that one of us would race at the Red Bull World Pump Track Qualifiers in August.

Budgetary concerns

Because our test pilot is a bit of a diva, we decided to allow him an extra £100 to tart the bike up or add upgrades over the summer. He immediately fired on a set of Demolition Trooper pedals in a black/orange colourway.

We'll now leave him to get and see what happens as the bike gets abused in various pump tracks and skateparks all over Scotland.
